Switch Display with a keyboard shortcut

It would be amazing if we could toggle the monitor display with a keyboard shortcut!

It would be a world-first since no tablet company actually offers this feature.

It's essential, especially for drag-drop operations between monitors.

On my previous tablets (Wacom/XP-Pen), I could switch displays by using AutoHotkey and assigning a key to manipulate the Control Panel GUI.

Unfortunately, the XenceLabs GUI doesn't have ClassNN controls exposed - I can't get information about how many monitors,  which monitor is currently active or even send keystrokes directly to a control/combo/list box.

I thought about using a HID parser and sending the 'Switch Display' command directly to the tablet drivers but this won't work. Unfortunately, XenceLabs 'Switch Display' function cycles the active monitors... and then activates All Displays!

There doesn't appear to be a way to disable the 'All Displays' entry from being cycled. Doesn't seem possible to directly switch to a specific monitor.

Maybe XenceLabs could enable a command-line option with switches?

e.g. Xencelabs.exe -screen:FullTabletArea -display:Monitor3

I'm running out of ideas - I've got no way of switching monitors without physically pressing a button on the tablet :(

I too do not like the way it cycles i just want display-1 and display-2 not all displays in the cycle. I asked support and a few months ago they said it was coming just round the corner. So obviously we did not pass that corner just yet!

Thanks for posting. It might seem tiny, but it requires much rethinking of the UI/design. I had a meeting yesterday, and this was one of the top subjects and it is moving along in development.

There is still no time estimate, but it is in the works.

I feel really disapointed that such a tiny yet essential feature isn't implemented yet. Sorry guys, but my xence is useless and I switch back to wacom.

Agreed, would love to see this implemented as well for the Pen Tablet.

Thanks for posting and I have let the team know we have more customers requesting this feature for the Xencelabs Pen Tablets.

Yes I firmly agree that this option needs to be on the Tablet Options as well as the Display.

Often you want to have a button that just pops between 2 monitors (or at least an option to remove the 'all displays' from cycling) as to me it is cumbersome and inefficient to have to cycle through an option you never use.

Like others have said Wacom have had this feature without issue for well over a decade.

Hope you get it sorted soon :)

Thank you to look at it. I don't know how they did it but it works since years on the wacom side, by leaving checked the secondary monitor only.

Thanks for posting that. We have had a few customers request that in the past, and I have sent the request to the driver team for review. That said, I’m just not sure how that would work.

The Switch displays is a function within the Xencelabs Settings panel that is sent to the operating system. It would need to be a keyboard shortcut in order to work as you want it to. I have a Logitech MS Keys S keyboard that I can customize some of the keyboard's actions on. I have not figured out how to do what you want currently. We’ll see what the driver team can do.

Hi,

I'm using a Pen Tablet indeed and would love to see this feature implemented.

Thanks for sending the reminder...

If you are a Pen Display 24 user, then you have the ability to select the display you want to cycle through. See the image below.

I have asked the driver team to see if they can implement the same type of selection for the Pen Tablets.

Hi,

still no news about this feature ?

Yes, please stay tuned. It should be right around the corner.

That is in the works. Please keep your eye on the next driver release or two. That seems like a small thing, but it can be a time saver when you bounce back and forth between three or four displays.
