The Pen Display 24 uses the DC method to decrease the brightness of our Display. This is easier on the eyes and gives the viewer a more accurate color space depiction, as there is little to no screen pulsing, which makes for less eye strain and more accurate colors.

DC uses Direct Current to increase or decrease the brightness of the Display. There is no noticeable pulsing or variation in the LCD crystals.

PWM - Pulse Wave Modulation uses a continuous pulse phase to switch on and off the source of power at a rapid rate. This has been noted to cause eye strain and fluctuations in how the on-screen colors are seen. This is more noticeable with lower brightness settings.

PWM is used in some of our competitor's displays.

Running the DC dimming method through the CalMAN color Accuracy test shows the DC method of dimming the Display to retain a more accurate color scape.

Using the PWM dimming method through the CalMAN color Accuracy test shows the PWM method of dimming the Display loses a bit of the color accuracy.
