Hold and Tap for right click

I always preferred the way Wacom had an option "hold and tap" to produce a right click. This would be helpful for those of us that use mouse gestures as the current "click" and drag the stylus button kind of freaks the mouse gesture reader out.

I have been testing it all morning, and I have had the other Customer Care person test it as well. We are unable to reproduce this issue.

I'm running Windows 11 Pro. With that said, my last driver installation, version 1.3.5-90, was a clean install. Meaning that I uninstalled the driver, then rebooted the computer, installed it, and then rebooted the computer once more.

Our driver is designed to be over-installed with no issues, but you never know, right? I'm going to over-install it and then conduct further testing.

After some quick testing, it's not just when I restart the computer or wake it from sleep. It turns out that just turning the tablet on and off will cause the click-then-tap setting to revert to default. This happens whether it is wired or on wireless. The Global setting seems to retain the click-then-tap setting but settings for other applications such as Photoshop and Bridge revert.

Thanks for posting that. I would like to get a couple of screenshots of what you are seeing. The before and after shots - thanks

Mike, are you referring to my comment about the setting resetting. There's not much to see, just the check box for click-then-tap changing to hover-click.

BUT I now can see it's not just when I wake up the computer or restart, I can make this happen by just turning the tablet off. I can set click-then-tap, and it will work fine until I turn off the tablet. When I turn the tablet back on, and it connects, the settings have reverted to default. This happens in wireless and wired modes.

This also seems to be specific to the profiles created for applications such as Bridge and Photoshop. The global setting seems to retain the click-then-tap setting.

Thanks for posting that. I would like to get a couple of screenshots of what you are seeing. The before and after shots - thanks

I've had an issue with the Click/type feature not staying enabled. I'm on Windows 11, and I'll set the general profile, as well as the Photoshop and Bridge profiles in the Xencelabs app for the 3 button pen to click then tap. AFter I restart or even wake up the computer from sleep, I find the setting have reverted to the default hover click behavior.

I'm having the driver team look into this. I'll keep you posted.

There has been some progress, but it still doesn’t work properly. When using Hover-Click, the right mouse button functions as it should—it clicks when pressed and releases when released. However, with Click-then-Tap, the right mouse button clicks upon touch but releases immediately. It should only release when I lift the pen tip off the tablet. This makes it impossible to use in its current state.

Also  I am having the same issue with the middle click assign button, it feels like it has a click at the end after the operation. i would be glad if the devs could also look into that

Thanks for this update. it works well as expected, but there is a few issues i have when using right-click.

So I used an OpenTablet driver comparison here are the links
https://github.com/OpenTabletDriver/OpenTabletDriver

With this plugin, which is more refined
https://github.com/hadiskeini/ClickAndTapPlugin

Comparing the performance to the current xencelabs driver, I notice that after right-clicking in the outliner in blender it times out the option menu doesn't stay still. I tried in other applications it gives the same issue. I hope this can be addressed soon.

But so far, most of the features are working as expected. Thanks.

Thanks for the post and letting me know. I have sent your comments on to the driver team.

Great news! it works and works as intended, I'm so happy.

On the other side as a beta it has some bugs, in my case central mouse click doesn't work when "Click then tap" is activated, I have it in the central button, but It's not the button because I've change the functionality and it does work, is the central mouse click action

Thanks for reaching out. The Xencelabs Windows Beta driver 1.3.5-90 has some interesting updates for the Tap and hold and Hover and Click.

You can find these new settings under either the 3-Button or Thin Pens selection > More Settings > Other Features

[1] Click-Action Mode

[2] Double Click Distance

Hi, can we have an update about this topic? seems that there's nothing going on...

Thanks for keeping on this. I have reached out to the driver team and ask them for an update. I also past on you commit, hoping they read it with some urgency.

I'll keep you posted.

Hi, we are well into 2025 and there are no news about this feature. Can we have an update? With the release of the latest wacom tablets I'm very  inclined to go back again to wacom
